We have had a busy week in preschool. We started to explore the season of fall and what comes to mind this time of year is PUMPKINS!!!!!! Here is a look at our week:
Monday:
Today, I read the children a riddle so that they could guess what was under my blanket….. a pumpkin J. We talked about the properties of a pumpkin and learned how a pumpkin grows. We then made a book to go along with the life cycle lesson.
Tuesday:
Today we read “5 Little Pumpkins” and acted out the play as a class. The kids did such a great job and really enjoyed performing. We did an extension of this lesson and practiced our math skills as well.
Wednesday:
Pass the Pumpkin day….We practiced our letter P sound in this fun game. The children all did a fun math activity by measuring how many pumpkins tall each of them are and then made a book.
Thursday:
We went to the library today!!!! We are going to borrow a book each week from our school library and leave it the classroom to enjoy. Each week we will visit and make a new selection of books. We also made a story “web” to go along with the story “The Itsy Bitsy Spider”. The boys and girls made a giant web of their own at the rug using yarn. It was the biggest web anyone has ever seen JLots of fun!!!!
Friday:
We missed our PM friends today. We continued exploring pumpkins across the curriculum. Our AM class painted their Pumpkins today. PM friends will enjoy this activity on Monday J
Next Monday, October 27th, Capt MacDonald from the Winthrop Fire Department will be visiting our classroom to talk about fire safety with us.
Just a reminder: next Friday is our Halloween party.
We are asking that you please send in your child’s costume, not have them wear it that day. Our room parents have put something special together for that day. Have a wonderful weekend J.
