Middle School Art
The element of color is the current main focus for all three grades in the art room!
Grade 6 classes are creating an oversized version of Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night. Each student received a small square of the painting to magnify with the use of line, shape, and by mixing similar paint colors. Once the painted pieces are completed, we will put the our masterpiece together.
Grade 7 classes have examined Van Gogh's still life, portrait, and landscape paintings and are creating their own artwork that shows influence of the artist by including dramatic brushstrokes and bold colors.
Grade 8 classes are working with monochromatic color. They are using the grayscale to create a sense of value in portrait paintings of historical figures, celebrities, and famous athletes.
