Collective Bargaining
Statement from the
Winthrop School Committee
JUNE 2026
The Winthrop School Committee is pleased to share that new contract agreements with the Winthrop Teachers Association have been officially approved for the district’s teachers, educational support professionals, nurses and secretarial units.
These agreements are retroactive to the 2025–2026 school year and run through the 2027–2028 school year. They reflect months of work by both bargaining teams and represent an important step forward for our schools and community.
We are grateful to the members of the WTA, district leadership, building administrators and staff across the district for their continued commitment to students throughout the bargaining process. The Committee also recognizes Superintendent Lisa Howard and the district leadership team for their work in supporting a collaborative and student-centered path forward.
These new agreements provide increased stability for the district, support the educators and staff who serve Winthrop students every day, and allow the school community to move forward with a renewed focus on teaching, learning and long-term planning.
The School Committee looks forward to continuing its work with the WTA, district leadership, staff, families and the broader Winthrop community to address ongoing funding challenges, strengthen communication and support schools where staff and students can thrive.
