Students Welcome to fourth grade! It is hard to believe that the summer is over. I hope that you enjoyed your summer vacation. I had a fantastic summer. I did many exciting things. I can*t wait to hear about what you have done!
I am looking forward to starting a new school year. This year promises to be filled with the excitement of learning new things and in the process; we will be having a lot of fun.
At the beginning of each school year, I do a special project with my class. It helps us to learn about each other. I would like you to find a bag (about the size of a lunch bag). Please decorate this bag and then use your imagination to fill it with about 5 items that say something about you. Bring it to school on Monday, September 16th. Here are some suggestions:
A favorite book,
Something that you collect,
Something that shows your favorite sport,
A picture of somewhere you have been or wish to go.
Hint: Use a picture of an item that is too large to fit in the bag. For example, if you like soccer, you might bring a picture of a soccer ball or of you playing soccer.
You will have an opportunity to share your bag's contents with the class so we can get to know each other better.
Dear Parent,Hello, my name is Dawn Letterie and I will be your child's fourth grade teacher. I am looking forward to forming a partnership with you and your child. There are so many things that can impact a child’s learning and you know your child far better than I ever will. Therefore, I would like to give you the opportunity to tell me about your child. If you would like, please send me a note or an email that will help me to get a sense of who your child is. It is my hope that we can work together as a team to further your child’s education. I have an "open door" policy, so please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns, now, or throughout the year.
School begins at 8:25 on Wednesday, September 3rd. I will meet my students outside and escort them to our classroom. Dismissal is at 2:25. Your child will be exiting the building through the doors near the cafetorium. There will be no school for students on Tuesday, September 9. It is a day for teacher professional development. Our first early release day is on Friday September 26.
Snack time is at 9:30. I strongly urge you to pack a healthy snack. If your child brings in a fruit or vegetable for snack, he/she will become a Snack Star for the day. Water is the only drink allowed in the classroom. I encourage you to send in a reusable water bottle that your child can keep on his/her desk. Lunch is at 10:53. Students can bring a lunch from home or purchase one for $2.50.
Thankfully, our school is air-conditioned. However, at times it can be very cool in the classroom and other areas of the building. I recommend that you send in a sweater or sweatshirt to be kept in your child’s cubby.
If you have a chance, check out my class website.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year!
